On Monday it was reported that Chrysler is working on a 707-hp Chrysler 300 Hellcat, but sorry to disappoint you, those reports are false. Chrysler has now confirmed that it isn’t happening, ever.

Motor Authority spoke with a Fiat Chrysler Automobiles spokesman who confirmed that Chrysler has no plans to put the 707 horsepower engine under the hood of the Chrysler 300. The confirmation isn’t too surprising, since Chrysler already killed the SRT-powered 300 after the 2013 model year.

So sadly that means no Hellcat for the Chrysler 300, but don’t cry yet. Chrysler is working on a refreshed 300, that will debut for the 2019 model year. The 2019 Chrysler 300 will also lose some pounds, making it a little more fuel efficient. A turbocharged four-cylinder may also be offered.

Yesterday it was reported that the next-generation Dodge Challenger and Charger will be built on the same platform as the Maserati Ghibli. If that’s the case, then the next Chrysler 300 might make the jump too, since it currently shares it platform with both Dodge models.
