This year Ford is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Ford Mustang and Chevy is getting in on the celebration. Chevy has just sent a birthday card to the Ford Mustang, which is a picture of the Camaro with the words, “Here’s to another 50 years of rivalry. Your friend, Camaro.”
“For five decades, the Camaro and the Mustang have been battling it out in every possible setting,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president, GM Global Product Development. “These two cars have been striving to beat each other on the track, on the drag strip and on the streets. That competition is a big part of why both cars are so amazing, and so popular, today.”

50 years ago this week the Ford Mustang created the pony car segment, which was followed three years later by the introduction of the Chevy Camaro.
