Last week Chevy announced that the 2021 Chevy Silverado is getting the GMC Sierra’s multi-function tailgate, which it has dubbed the Multi-Flex tailgate. Now Chevy has announced the rest of the upgrades to the 2021 Silverado 1500, which includes the addition of GMC’s towing tech.

This includes a new trailer length indicator that makes changing lanes easier, a new jack knife alert that aims to prevent a jack-knife situation, a cargo bed view, rear trailer view with guidelines and trailer-angle indicator, rear trailer view and rear side view.

If you opt for the Crew Cab Short Box model with the 2.7-liter turbo, it can now tow 2,500 pounds more for a max capacity of 9,300 pounds in two-wheel drive. The Regular Cab Long Box model with the 2.7L has a maximum tow rating of 9,600 pounds and ups Silverado’s overall max payload to 2,280 pounds in 2WD.

The 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel adds an additional 1,900 pounds of towing capacity to nearly every configuration and provides the maximum capacity of 9,500 pounds to 2WD models. The 3.0L diesel is also $1,500 cheaper now.
