In addition to the new Enspire electric SUV concept, Buick has also unveiled the new Velite 6 plug-in hybrid in China. The Buick Velite 6 plug-in hybrid is based on the Velite concept that debuted in 2016 and is part of its new Buick Blue new energy vehicle strategy.
The Buick Velite 6 plug-in hybrid is powered by an CVT transmission, two AC permanent-magnet synchronous motors with a lithium-ion battery, and a 1.5L engine. There are different driving modes to choose from, like a full hybrid mode that uses both the electric motor and engine or two other modes where you can drive using either just the electric motor or 1.5L engine. The Velite 6 plug-in hybrid has a total driving range of 435 miles, but Buick hasn’t announced how far it can travel in EV mode.
The Buick Velite 6 plug-in hybrid will go on sale later this year in China and it will be followed by the fully electric Velite 6 at a later date.
