Bugatti has revealed that the Bugatti Chiron has set a world record by completing a 0-249-0 mph (0-400-0 km/h) run in only 41.96 seconds. The 1,500 horsepower hypercar was driven by IndyCar driver Juan Pablo Montoya.
Last month Juan Pablo Montoya only needed 41.96 seconds to get the Chiron up to 249 mph and then back to zero. It actually only took 32.6 seconds to reach 249 mph at which then he pressed firmly on the brakes and the rear wing moved up to an angle of 49 degrees to form an air brake that helped quickly decelerate the Chiron.
“It is really impressive how stable and consistent the Chiron is. Its acceleration and braking are simply incredible,” stated Juan Pablo Montoya.
“Bugatti is the first car brand that not only calculates how fast a car can go from zero to 400 to zero on a computer. We actually drove it. Where others are satisfied with theory, we validate our data with real-life values. Just like we did with the Chiron,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.
During the world record weekend, Juan Pablo Montoya travelled faster than 400 km/h 17 times.
