BMW’s next electric car will serve as the flagship for the brand’s i-sub brand, which currently includes the i3 and i8 models. BMW CEO Harold Krueger recently shared the news during a shareholders’ meeting, where he revealed that the BMW “next” will feature self-driving technology when it arrives by 2021.

It’s expected that the flagship sedan will borrow styling cues from the BMW Vision Next 100 concept that debuted two months ago. The new flagship sedan will take on Tesla and a host of other electric car rivals.

The iNext will be “our new innovation driver, with autonomous driving, digital connectivity, intelligent lightweight design, a totally new interior and ultimately bringing the next generation of electro-mobility to the road,” Krueger said.
