2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible leaked due to patent images

2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible

BMW has yet to unveil the next-generation 4 Series convertible, but we now have our first look at it thanks to some leaked patent images from China’s National Intellectual Property Administration.

These patent images were discovered by i4talk and what we see here isn’t too surprising, since we’ve already seen the new 4 Series coupe. That means the 4 Series convertible also gets the same massive grille as the coupe.

The biggest change is that the 2021 4 Series convertible will ditch the retractable hardtop that the current generation has and instead it will feature a conventional soft top. The switch to the less complex soft top will save some weight.

Under the hood, the new 4 Series convertible will be powered by the same engine lineup as the coupe, which means the 430i version will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 255 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque. The M440i will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 382 hp and 369 lb-ft. of torque.

BMW hasn’t announced when we’ll get to see the 2021 BMW 4 Series convertible, other than stating that “information will be announced later in 2020.”
