BMW has unveiled its latest M models, the 2020 X5 M and X6 M ahead of their arrival next spring.

At the heart of the 2020 BMW X5 M and X6 M models there’s the 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which generates 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft. of torque. If that’s not enough power you can opt for the Competition models, which pack 617 hp and 553 lb-ft. The V8 is mated to an M Steptronic eight-speed automatic transmission with Drivelogic, the rear-biased M xDrive all-wheel drive system with Active M differential.

The X5 M and X6 M can reach 60 mph in 3.8 seconds or 3.7 seconds for the Competition models. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, which increases to 177 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package. To make sure everyone hears you coming, the X5 M and X6 M feature a unique dual-branch exhaust system with a pair of 100 mm tailpipes with electrically controlled flaps. The exhaust note can be altered via the M Sound Control button in the center console. The Competition models sound even better thanks to the standard M Sport Exhaust system.

To help them stand out, the X5 M and X6 M feature a more aggressive front fascia with a different front bumper with large air intakes and M specific BMW kidney grilles with black double-bars. There are also M gills on the front fenders, flared wheel arches in body color and a rear diffuser with integrated quad exhaust. On the Competition models, the kidney grille surrounds, exterior mirror caps, badges, rear diffuser trim and exhaust tailpipes are finished in Black.

The X5 M and X5 M Competition feature a rear roof spoiler while the X6 M and X6 M Competition feature both a roof and lower tailgate spoiler as part of their aerodynamic enhancements.

Inside red has been added to the M control buttons on the center console, on the M Leather steering wheel and on the M Leather gearshift lever. Additionally, Red, Blue and White BMW M color stitching is visible on the steering wheel and gearshift lever.

The 2020 BMW X5 M starts at $106,095, while the X5 M Competition starts at $115,095. The X6 M starts at $109,595 and the X6 M Competition starts at $118,595, including the destination fees.
