The 2021 Audi Q5 and QQ5 are getting a facelift for the new model year, which also includes the addition of new tech features, like a standard mild-hybrid powertrain.

On the outside the biggest update you’ll likely notice is the redesigned Singleframe grille, which is now a little thinner and wider. The front fascia also gets taller side air intakes, while the Q5’s profile now looks a bit lighter thanks to new side sills. At the rear there’s a new trim element that connects the taillights and a horizontal diffuser.

The 2021 Q5 is also available in two new colors: District Green and Ultra Blue.

The Q5 45 TFSI model comes standard with the Advanced line exterior, which adds vertical chrome strips in the grille and silver accents in the front and rear bumpers. The Q5 Plug-in Hybrid model comes standard with the S line exterior which includes a sportier honeycomb structure in the Singleframe grille and a more aggressive front and rear diffuser design.

Lastly the SQ5 offers an available black optic package, which adds matte black roof rails, high-gloss black mirror caps, black exterior accents and 20” 5-V-spoke-star design wheels in bi-color finish with summer tires.

The 2021 Q5’s interior now has a 10.2-inch MMI touchscreen that’s powered by the new MIB 3 infotainment system and in front of the driver there’s the available 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit. You can say goodbye to the wires, since the Q5 now has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Under the hood the 2021 Q5’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine gets an extra 13 horsepower and a 12v mild-hybrid system that generates a combined 261 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough power to give the Q5 a 0-60 mph time of 5.7 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than before.

The Q5 PHEV is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TFSI engine that’s mated to an electric motor. It generates a combined 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, and reaches 60 mph in 5.0 seconds.

The SQ5 is powered by the same 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine with 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, but it can now sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds, 0.4 seconds quicker than the 2020 model.

The 2021 Audi Q5 starts at $43,300 and it’s scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2020.
