If you’ve wanted a rear-wheel drive version of the Audi R8, your only option was to find one of the limited R8 V10 RWS models. We say “limited” since Audi only produced 999 units of the R8 V10 RWS, but you can forget about that model now, since Audi has unveiled the 2020 R8 V10 RWD.

The rear-wheel drive R8 V10 RWD is powered by the same naturally-aspirated 5.2L V10 as the Quattro model, but with 532 horsepower and 398 lb-ft. of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a mechanical locking differential. If you know your R8 stats, you’ll notice that the R8 V10 RWD is slightly less powerful than the R8 Coupe V10 Quattro, which has 562 hp and 413 lb-ft.

Compared to the Quattro model, the R8 V10 Quattro Coupe is 143 pounds lighter, while the R8 V10 RWD Spyder drops 121 pounds.

The R8 V10 RWD Coupe zooms from 0 to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds, and has a top speed of 199 mph, while the Spyder takes 3.8 seconds to reach 62 mph and has a top speed of 198 mph.

Audi has only announced the pricing in Germany, which starts at starts at €144,000 for the Coupe, while the Spyder starts at €157,000. That means that the rear-wheel drive model is  €22,000 decrease than the Quattro models.
