Last month Audi revealed the Metroproject Quattro Concept at the Tokyo Auto Show. The concept may provide hints of Audi’s upcoming A1.

Now sources are stating that Audi is discussing the idea of bringing the small car to the US when it is released sometime in 2009. Compact and sub-compact cars are usually not viewed very highly in the US. But with rising gas prices and the overwhelming success of the MINI in the US has prompted automakers to think smaller.

Rupert Stadler, Audi’s CEO, stated “There is absolutely a potential for that kind of vehicle in America.”

Let’s hope they do decide to bring it here.
