Rumors about a possible electric car from Apple have been circulating for a while and now The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple has set a goal for the new car to arrive in 2019. According to the report, Apple has labeled the electric car as a “committed project.”
Although Apple has yet to publicly confirm the reports, Apple has been secretly hiring experts on electric cars and autonomous driving from automakers, like Mercedes-Benz, Tesla and Volkswagen.
Last week during an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Apple CEO Tim Cook would not comment on the reports. “We look at a number of things along the way,” Cook stated, “and we decide to really put our energies into a few of those.”
