Acura is competing in this year’s Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a 350 horsepower version of the 2019 RDX and 500-hp version of the TLX A-Spec.
This year marks the seventh consecutive year that Acura has competed in the “Race to the Clouds.” The TLX GT and NSX will join the 2019 RDX and TLX A-Spec at this year’s race.
The 2019 RDX race car will compete in this year’s Exhibition Class. It’s powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder, but to give it an extra boost Acura bolted on a 48-volt hybrid system, an electric supercharger, a larger turbocharger, and a bigger intercooler. The powertrain generates a nice 350 horsepower and 330 lb-ft. of torque.
Additional upgrades to the RDX race car includes a race-tuned suspension, custom 19-inch HRE forged race wheels and Pirelli racing tires, and a Brembo braking system.
Pikes Peak rookie Jordan Guitar will make his hill-climb debut in the 2019 Acura RDX.
