Volvo has officially pulled the covers off the Volvo EX60, an all-electric mid-size SUV that slots into the largest EV segment globally.

2027 Volvo EX60

On paper, the numbers are attention-grabbing. In all-wheel-drive form, Volvo is targeting up to 400 miles of range, making the EX60 the longest-range EV the company has ever built. Charging is a major part of that story. Using a 400 kW DC fast charger, Volvo claims the EX60 can add up to 173 miles of range in just 10 minutes—roughly the length of a coffee stop. In the U.S., it will also debut Volvo’s first native NACS charging port, giving owners direct access to more than 25,000 Tesla Superchargers without an adapter.

Volvo is launching the EX60 with three electric powertrain options:

  • P12 AWD Electric: Up to 400 miles of range
  • P10 AWD Electric: Up to 320 miles
  • P6 RWD Electric: Up to 310 miles

In total, seven variants will be offered.

Underneath, the EX60 debuts Volvo’s new SPA3 electric architecture, paired with its next-generation HuginCore computing system. This is where the EX60 quietly becomes more important than its spec sheet suggests. Technologies like cell-to-body battery integration, mega casting, and new in-house electric motors aren’t just engineering buzzwords—they’re how Volvo plans to improve efficiency, reduce weight, and lower manufacturing costs at scale.

The result? Volvo says the EX60 delivers the lowest carbon footprint of any fully electric Volvo, matching even the smaller EX30.

2027 Volvo EX60

Visually, the EX60 pushes Volvo’s Scandinavian design language deeper into the electric era. A low nose, sloping roofline, and tapered body sides help achieve a 0.26 drag coefficient, which plays a direct role in its long range. Inside, the focus is on calm, functional luxury—natural materials, clean lines, and smart storage throughout.

A long wheelbase and flat floor translate into noticeably improved rear legroom and a larger cargo area, while details like a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system elevate the cabin. For the first time in a Volvo, Apple Music with Dolby Atmos comes pre-installed.

Technology is where the EX60 draws a clear line between Volvo’s past and its future. Powered by HuginCore and developed alongside partners like Google, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm.

It’s also the first Volvo to ship with Google Gemini, a deeply integrated AI assistant that allows for more natural, conversational voice control—no memorized commands required. The infotainment system itself is also said to be faster and more responsive than any previous Volvo.

True to form, Volvo positions the EX60 as one of the safest vehicles on the road with a strengthened safety cage with boron steel, advanced restraint systems, and a new multi-adaptive safety belt.

2027 Volvo EX60 Cross Country

Alongside the standard EX60, Volvo also previewed the EX60 Cross Country, bringing its long-running adventure-focused sub-brand into the electric age. The Cross Country builds on the EX60’s foundation with a more rugged look, exclusive Frost Green paint, unique wheels, skid plates, and distinctive branding.

More importantly, it sits 20 mm higher than the standard EX60, with the option to raise it another 20 mm via air suspension. That same suspension can also lower the car at highway speeds to improve efficiency and range. The EX60 Cross Country will launch with AWD powertrains, starting with the P10 variant (up to 300 miles of range), followed by the longer-range P12.

The Volvo EX60 is now available to order in Europe, with U.S. availability expected in late spring. Production begins this spring in Sweden, with customer deliveries of the P6 and P10 variants starting this summer and the P12 following shortly after.
