Kia unveiled the completely redesigned 2027 Seltos at the New York International Auto Show. This is a bigger, more technologically advanced version of their small SUV.
The second generation of the Seltos is longer and wider, and its extended wheelbase means more space for passengers and their luggage. In fact, Kia states that rear seat legroom is improved and you’ll have more room for cargo, allowing the new Seltos to better compete with other growing small SUVs. It also has up to 8.1 inches of ground clearance, which should make it a bit better for handling tougher terrain, particularly in the X-Line version.
The look of the outside is inspired by the larger Telluride, and is quite striking with its bold lines, amber daytime running lights and flush door handles (when you choose to have them). The interior is completely new, with a more contemporary design, nicer materials, and of course, more tech. You can get almost 30 inches of screen space altogether: a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, and a 5-inch display for the climate controls. It also includes over-the-air updates, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Kia is giving you more choices when it comes to engines for the Seltos. The basic engine is still a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, but there’s a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine producing about 190 horsepower for people who want a little more zip. And for the first time, the Seltos will have a hybrid option, combining a 1.6-liter engine with a dual-clutch gearbox. The hybrid comes with front-wheel drive or Kia’s new electric all-wheel drive system, and this is the first time Kia has put e-AWD in a hybrid SUV.
The new Seltos also has more driver-assist features, like Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning, an optional Blind-Spot View Monitor, and a Surround View Monitor available as an option to give you a 360-degree view. Kia’s intention with the new Seltos was to offer a lot of the nicer features found on more expensive SUVs, but keep it at a price people can afford.
The 2027 Kia Seltos with the 2.0-liter and turbocharged engines should be in US dealerships in the first six months of 2026. The hybrid version will be available later in 2026. We’ll get details on pricing and the complete list of features nearer the time they go on sale.
