At the New York International Auto Show, Subaru showed off their brand new electric vehicle, the 2027 Subaru Getaway. This three-row electric SUV mixes family convenience with lots of power, in fact, it’s the strongest Subaru they’ve ever made.
Two electric motors working together provide 420 horsepower for the 2027 Getaway. That’s sufficient to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under five seconds. Subaru’s usual Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a generous 8.3 inches of ground clearance mean it’s genuinely able to go off road, and it can haul 3,500 pounds.
Subaru estimates the Getaway will travel over 300 miles on a single charge because of its 95.8 kWh battery. It will have a standard NACS (North American Charging Standard) port, which lets drivers use Tesla’s Supercharger network throughout North America. The battery can gain 10 to 80 percent of its charge in roughly 30 minutes with charging rates up to 150kW. And a standard system to prepare the battery for charging in the cold will improve charging in cold weather.
The Getaway’s interior is for families, with room for as many as seven people, and you can get captain’s chairs for the second row. When the third row of seating is folded away, there’s 45.6 cubic feet for luggage, and even with all three rows in use, there are still almost 16 cubic feet for bags. Subaru also says that people up to six feet tall can be comfortable in any of the three rows.
Inside you’ll find a 14-inch touchscreen as standard, alongside a 12.3-inch digital display for the instruments, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optional extras include heated and cooled seats, a panoramic sunroof, interior ambient lighting, and plenty of USB-C charging points in every row.
The exterior of the Getaway shows Subaru’s newest style for electric vehicles, featuring a lit Subaru emblem, door handles that sit flush with the body and useful roof rails. The SUV has 19-inch or 20-inch wheels, depending on which model you choose.
The 2027 Subaru Getaway should be in dealerships towards the end of 2026. Details of the price and all of its features will be released nearer the time it goes on sale.
