The Nissan Sentra has been a staple in the compact car segment for more than four decades, and for 2026 it gets a full redesign that makes it more stylish, more connected, and more comfortable. The new Sentra arrives in showrooms later this year in S, SV, SR, and SL trims.

2026 Nissan Sentra

The 2026 Sentra adopts a bolder design with Nissan’s updated V-motion grille, slim LED headlights, and a sleeker profile that gives the compact sedan a more premium presence. Aerodynamic improvements, including reshaped mirrors, flat underbody panels, and revised fenders, also play a role in reducing drag and improving efficiency. Buyers will have wheel options ranging from 16 to 18 inches and a fresh palette of exterior colors, including two-tone combinations with a contrasting black roof.

The sporty SR trim stands out further with a unique fascia, blacked-out accents, rear spoiler, and larger 18-inch alloys.

Inside, the Sentra has taken a big leap forward. A clean dashboard layout is anchored by available dual 12.3-inch displays—one for the gauge cluster and one for infotainment. Even the standard 12.3-inch center screen includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with wireless functionality offered on higher trims. Other available features include a Bose premium audio system, wireless phone charging, customizable ambient lighting, and quilted synthetic leather upholstery.

Nissan also paid attention to usability, with class-leading front legroom, a low trunk liftover height, and added conveniences like approach unlock and walkaway locking. A new myQ garage door integration even lets drivers open or close their garage through the infotainment system.

As with recent Nissan models, safety tech is a priority. All 2026 Sentra models come standard with Safety Shield 360, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Prevention, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Blind Spot Warning. New for 2026 is Blind Spot Intervention, which can help steer the car back if the driver tries to change lanes into another vehicle.

Higher trims offer ProPILOT Assist, Nissan’s semi-automated system designed to ease highway driving in traffic by managing acceleration, braking, and steering.

Power comes from a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque, paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). For 2026, the CVT has been retuned for smoother and more natural acceleration, while a new Sport mode (SV, SR, SL) sharpens throttle response and transmission mapping.

Nissan also made improvements to ride quality and refinement. The chassis is 6% more rigid than before, while new shock absorber tuning, rear disc brakes, and additional sound deadening contribute to a quieter, more composed drive.

The redesigned 2026 Nissan Sentra may not be chasing the performance crown in the compact sedan segment, but it delivers meaningful upgrades where buyers will notice them most: sharper styling, more technology, and improved comfort. With its blend of value, safety, and everyday usability, the Sentra remains a strong choice for compact car shoppers looking for more than just basic transportation.
