Mazda has just pulled the wraps off the third-generation 2026 CX-5, and the brand’s best-seller is looking more premium, more high-tech, and more practical than ever. Still unmistakably a CX-5 in silhouette, the all-new model evolves in all the right ways—with a bolder design, a roomier cabin, and a much-needed tech upgrade.

At first glance, it’s clear that Mazda’s design team has been busy refining what made the CX-5 a standout in its class. The front end adopts a broader, more sculpted look with sharper headlights and a fresh take on the brand’s Signature Wing grille. Out back, angular taillights and bold “MAZDA” lettering replace the traditional emblem, bringing the CX-5 closer in family resemblance to the CX-70 and CX-90.
Dimensionally, this is the biggest CX-5 yet—4.5 inches longer overall and riding on a wheelbase stretched by three inches. It’s also wider, translating to real gains in passenger and cargo space.
Step inside, and the 2026 CX-5 feels like it graduated into a new segment. Rear-seat passengers benefit most from the stretch in dimensions, with more leg, knee, and headroom. An available panoramic sunroof opens things up even more.

Mazda’s interior design team continues to deliver on its promise of simple luxury, with premium materials, calming ambient lighting, and a clutter-free layout that emphasizes serenity and usability. Rear cargo space is up, too, with a lower load floor and more usable height and depth.
One of the biggest upgrades comes in the form of tech. Taking center stage on the dash is a new 15.6-inch touchscreen. The new infotainment system is powered by Google built-in. That means native Google Maps, Google Play, and the upcoming Google Gemini voice assistant, all integrated seamlessly without needing your smartphone.

Under the hood, the 2026 CX-5 launches with a 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G inline-four with 187 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive. Mazda says the engine has been retuned for smoother response and better refinement.
The good news is that a hybrid version is on the way, too. Expected in 2027, it will debut Mazda’s new SkyActiv-Z hybrid powertrain.
The 2026 Mazda CX-5 will arrive in early 2026.
