Honda has confirmed that the all-new 2026 Prelude will arrive later this year, and it’s going to add some much needed sport back to its lineup. The Prelude is back and for the 6th-generation Prelude will be powered by the same hybrid powertrain as the Civic and also borrow its suspension from Civic Type R.

For the first time ever, Honda is equipping a non-Type R model with its dual-axis front suspension. The new Prelude also gets the Type R’s wide front and rear tracks and Brembo front brakes. Honda says that although the Prelude will have the same suspension hardware as the Civic Type R, it will be tuned differently to give it a “refined, sporty grand touring feel.”

Under the hood, the Prelude will be powered by the same two-motor hybrid system that powers the Civic hybrid. The hybrid powertrain will be paired with Honda’s new S+ Shift system, an advanced drive mode designed to enhance the brand’s Linear Shift Control technology and sharpen the Prelude’s responsiveness to make it more fun to drive.
