Ford is keeping Mustang heritage alive in the electric era with the debut of the 2026 Mustang Mach-E GT California Special, a modern take on one of the brand’s most iconic special editions. The new package blends classic California-inspired styling with the high-performance electric power of the Mach-E GT.

The original California Special debuted in 1968, created by California dealers who wanted a unique version of the Mustang to celebrate the state’s strong connection to the brand. The model’s signature red and black details became an instant hit. More than 50 years later, Ford is bringing that same spirit to the electric Mustang Mach-E, inspired by the launch of the seventh-generation Mustang coupe in 2024.

The centerpiece of the new Mach-E GT California Special is a new paint color called Rave Blue, inspired by California’s coastline. The color shifts between light and dark tones, with hints of violet—evoking the ocean at sunset. Rave Blue accents appear throughout the Mach-E’s design, from the illuminated pony badge on the grille to 20-inch carbonized gray wheels featuring a printed GT/CS logo and gloss black aero covers.

A special hood graphic features layered shades of gray, black, and blue lines that radiate from the “California Special” wordmark—another nod to the car’s coastal inspiration.

The interior continues the theme with Navy Pier ActiveX and Miko performance seats featuring reflective blue and silver striping. The center console, steering wheel, and floor mats all echo the same blue-and-silver stitching, giving the cabin a distinctive, upscale look that ties into the California Special’s legacy.

Built on the Mustang Mach-E GT, the California Special delivers the same powerful electric performance—480 horsepower, 700 lb-ft of torque, and an EPA-estimated range of 280 miles.
