BMW has pulled the covers off the 2026 BMW M2 CS, which is the more powerful version of the rear-wheel drive M2. With 523 horsepower on tap, it’s the most powerful rear-wheel drive M car, the only downside is that it’s not available with a manual transmission.

Under the hood the M2 CS is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 523 hp and 479 pound-feet of torque. Those specs mean that the M2 CS has 50 more hp and 36 more lb-ft. than the standard M2. All that power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

To make it even more capable on the track, the M2 CS loses some weight thanks to a carbon fiber hood, mirror caps, trunk lid and rear diffuser. At the front the air intakes have been optimized to provide more airflow. Thanks to the forged aluminum wheels and light M carbon fiber seats, the M2 CS is about 60 pounds lighter than the M2.

The suspension has also been tweaked and the CS sits 0.2 inch lower. It gets new springs and special adaptive dampers.
