BMW has officially unveiled the 2026 BMW iX3, the brand’s first production model based on its new Neue Klasse EV platform. The fully electric SUV introduces BMW’s next-generation design, software, and battery technology, and will launch in the U.S. in the summer of 2026.

The iX3 is powered by sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which includes new electric motors, 800-volt architecture, and lithium-ion cylindrical cell batteries. In its first configuration, the iX3 50 xDrive features a dual-motor setup with 463 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque, standard all-wheel drive, and a 0–60 mph time of around 4.7 seconds. Top speed is limited to 130 mph. A single-motor rear-wheel drive model will follow.
BMW estimates a driving range of up to 400 miles. Charging is equally impressive: with a peak rate of 400 kW, the iX3 can gain about 230 miles of range in 10 minutes at a fast charger. A 10–80% charge takes roughly 21 minutes. AC charging is supported up to 19.2 kW.
At 188.3 inches long with a 114.1-inch wheelbase, the 2026 iX3 slots between the iX and X3 in size. The SUV rides on a new platform designed exclusively for EVs, which improves efficiency and interior space. Aerodynamics have been optimized with a drag coefficient of 0.24. Cargo space measures 30.4 cubic feet, expanding to 65 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Towing capacity is rated at 4,400 pounds.

Inside, the iX3 debuts the new BMW Panoramic iDrive interface, which integrates a 17.9-inch central display, a head-up display, and BMW’s new Panoramic Vision projection system across the windshield. A redesigned steering wheel with haptic controls and improved voice assistant functionality are also included.
The cabin offers space for five passengers, with standard perforated Veganza upholstery and optional leather. A minimalist design approach emphasizes digital controls while retaining physical buttons for essential functions.

The 2026 iX3 will be built at BMW’s new Debrecen, Hungary plant, the first facility designed from the ground up for Neue Klasse vehicles. The first version to arrive will be the iX3 50 xDriv which will start around $60,000 and its slated to arrive in summer 2026.

The iX3 also marks the beginning of BMW’s Neue Klasse era, with nearly 40 new models and updates planned by 2027.
