Lexus has announced a new powertrain for the 2025 Lexus UX, along with a few other minor upgrades.

The smallest crossover in the Lexus lineup is the first to receive the company’s fifth-generation hybrid system. This new system produces 196 total system horsepower and features a new hybrid transaxle and lightweight lithium-ion battery, replacing the nickel-metal hydride battery of the previous generation system to help it achieve this more powerful number.

The 2025 Lexus UX will only be offered with this new hybrid powertrain in the US. Shift-by-wire technology, which converts shift operations into electrical signals, is also being introduced in the 2025 Lexus UX. This system has no mechanical connections and enables quicker, more seamless shifting, helping the 2025 Lexus UX achieve improved 0-60 times of 7.9 seconds (AWD) and 8.0 seconds (FWD), respectively. Manufacturer-estimated combined mpg ratings are 43 mpg for FWD models and 41 mpg for AWD models.

Other upgrades include a standard 12.3-inch instrument cluster for Premium and F Sport models, a new Copper Crest color that first debuted on the 2023 Lexus RX, a new button layout on the door panels with chrome-finished ornamentation, and new hairline finishing for F Sport Handling models on the door panels and center console.

Standard equipment for the 2025 Lexus UX includes 18-inch alloy wheels with run-flat tires, five USB ports, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite of active safety assist systems.

Available options for the 2025 Lexus UX include a color head-up display, digital key, and multiple wheel options.

Pricing for the 2025 Lexus UX will be announced at some point next year.
