Honda isn’t giving up on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles after the departure of the Clarity. Now Honda is bringing the fuel cell technology to its most popular vehicle, the CR-V with the debut of the 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV.

The big news here is that the CR-V e:FCEV one ups other fuel cell vehicles, since it’s also a plug-in hybrid with a 29 mile EV range. That should help alleviate some of the range concerns, since there is still a lack of hydrogen refueling stations. It’s powered by a single-motor with 174 horsepower and 229 lb.-ft. of torque. It has an MPGe rating of 61 city, 52 highway, and 57 combined and has a total driving range of 270 miles.

It also has a 110-volt power outlet that can deliver up to 1,500 watts of power, turning CR-V e:FCEV into a power source capable of running small home appliances, portable air conditioners, power tools, and camping equipment.

Compared to CR-V turbo and hybrid models, rear lateral rigidity is increased 10%, rear torsional rigidity has improved 9% and its MacPherson strut front suspension and multilink rear suspension have been completely retuned with specific springs, dampers and stabilizer bars.

The CR-V e:FCEV stands out from the rest of the CR-V lineup with new body panels forward of the A-pillar, a unique rear fascia and 18-inch, 10-spoke black wheels.
