VW has been quite vocal lately about its future and how the Beetle may not be part of it. VW has yet to give the green light to a new Beetle, but it looks like it’s getting ready to say goodbye, with the introduction of the 2019 Beetle Final Edition.

2018 VW Beetle

VW has yet to announce the 2019 Beetle Final Edition, but it reportedly submitted information to NHTSA about the special edition model. You might recall that in 2010 VW also introduced a Final Edition of the New Beetle to celebrate the last year of production.

The New Beetle Final Edition debuted in an Aquarius Blue or Campanella White with production limited to only 3,000 units. It’s not known yet what features the 2019 VW Beetle Final Edition will offer, but we’ll likely see it debut soon, possibly at the upcoming LA Auto Show in November. According to the document submitted to NHTSA, the 2019 Beetle Final Edition will be offered in SE and SEL trim levels. It will also be available in either the coupe or convertible body style.

Even if VW has yet to decide on another Beetle, there have been reports that it could return as a fully electric four-door electric car.
