Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S560e plug-in hybrid sedan, which is expected to go on sale in the U.S. by mid-2019. The large sedan has an electric driving range of 25 miles.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz S560e is powered by a 365-hp 3.0L V6 that’s mated to a 90 kW electric motor. The plug-in hybrid powertrain sends its power to the ground via third-generation hybrid transmission that has space for the converter, clutch and electric motor. In addition to its 25 mile electric range, the hybrid powertrain also generates enough power to get the S560e from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The plug-in hybrid sedan also has an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.
To help the driver drive as economically as possible, the Mercedes-Benz S560e plug-in hybrid features a new Eco Assist system that will prompt the driver when it is prompted when it is appropriate to release the accelerator–for example when the S-Class is approaching a speed limit. The system takes into account things like, route profile, speed limits and distance from vehicles ahead when it makes driving recommendations.
Another feature is the pre-entry climate control system that will automatically pre-heat or cool the cabin before the driver even gets in the car. This includes cooling the cabin to a preset temperature or even heating the air and heated seats and steering wheel.
Buyers in the U.S. will have to wait at least a year and a half to get the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S560e, since it won’t arrive here until mid-2019.
