Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the latest addition to the E-Class lineup, with the debut of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG E53. The E53 models replace the old Mercedes-AMG E43 models and are powered by a twin turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that’s mated to a 48-volt mild hybrid system with a combined 435 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque.
The 2019 Mercedes-AMG E53 will be available as a sedan or wagon. The six-cylinder engine is mated to a nine speed automatic transmission and the AMG 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system. There will be five drive modes available: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. Both models have a top speed of 155 mph, but if you add the AMG Driver’s Package, the top speed increases to 168 mph.
Compared to the standard E-Class, the E53 models get a unique hood with two power bulges. At the rear, there’s a new rear diffuser and the high-gloss chrome tailpipes. The E53 models can also be equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside there’s red contrast stitching and optional Performance seats that are wrapped in man-made lather and microfiber.
Mercedes-Benz has not announced the US pricing for the 2019 Mercedes-AMG 53.
