Volkswagen has announced that the 2018 Atlas has received the Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS. The Atlas missed out on the coveted Top Safety Pick + rating, since its headlights received a marginal rating.
The 2018 Atlas earned the top “Good” ratings in the five IIHS crash tests: frontal impact moderate overlap, frontal impact small overlap, side impact, roof strength and head restraints. The 2018 VW Atlas also received a “Superior” rating for front crash prevention. The IIHS says that in the 12 mph IIHS track test, the Atlas avoided a collision. In the 25 mph test, the impact speed was reduced by 17 mph.
