The first photos of the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS have leaked online. The photos were originally posted by Australia’s Drive, but then they were quickly taken down, but here they are. The biggest news is that the updated 911 GT3 RS, which is likely the last new model from the 991 generation, now has an extra 20 horsepower giving it a total 520 horsepower from its naturally aspirated 4.0L six-cylinder engine.
The extra power gives the new 911 GT3 RS a slightly faster 0-60 mph time of a only 3.2 seconds, while it can now reach a top speed of 194 mph. Besides the extra power, the 2018 911 GT3 RS also gets an updated rear-wheel-steering system, plus some aerodynamic upgrades. The front bumper has been reshaped with new air ducts to optimize airflow, while the rear bumper now has larger air extraction ducts. The rear wing has also been updated. You’ll also notice that the 2018 911 GT3 RS now features the same taillights as the rest of the 911 models.
We’ll get more details soon, but it’s expected that the 2018 911 GT3 RS will only be available with the PDK transmission. It will also ride on large 20-inch wheels in the front and 21-inch wheels in the rear. An optional Clubsport package will also be available that adds six-point seat belts, a roll cage and a fire extinguisher.
