The 2018 Ford Expedition is already rolling down the production line and now Ford has revealed that the Expedition 4×2 has a combined EPA rating of 20 mpg, which beats out the Chevy Suburban, which has a 19 mpg combined rating.

The 2018 Expedition is rated at 17 mpg city and 24 mpg on the highway, which is an improvement over the outgoing model, which was rated at 15 mpg city and 21 mpg on the highway. Ford says that the switch to an aluminum body helped improve the fuel economy numbers for the Expedition.

The 2018 Expedition is 300 pounds lighter than the outgoing model and a new 10-speed automatic transmission also helped improve its efficiency. The Expedition is powered by a standard 3.5L EcoBoost engine that generates 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. of torque in the XL, XLT and Limited trims. If you step up to the Platinum trim level, the 3.5L V6 generates 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft.

Pricing for the 2018 Ford Expedition starts at $52,890, while the Expedition MAX starts at $55,580.
