The all-new 2017 Hyundai has been unveiled at the LA Auto Show. It may not look all that surprising if you’ve been paying close attention, since the Elantra is basically the U.S. spec version of the Avante that was unveiled just a few months ago.
The 2017 Elantra features Hyundai’s latest design language and its face is defined by the large hexagonal grille. In terms of its size, the new Elantra is only 0.8-inches longer and 1-inch wider than the outgoing model at 179,9 inches long and 70.9 inches wide. Thanks to the application of underbody covers, an aerodynamic rear bumper bottom spoiler and front wheel air curtains, the 2017 Elantra slips through the wind with a 0.27 coefficient of drag.

There will be two engines available when the 2017 Elantra goes on sale. The base 2.0L naturally-aspirated Atkinson engine generates 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft. of torque. The 2.0L can be mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The 2.0L with the automatic transmission is rated at 29 city / 38 highway / 33 combined mpg. If you want a more efficient engine, a new 1.4L turbocharged engine generates 128 horsepower and 156 lb-ft. of torque and at the same time it is estimated to have a 35 mpg combined rating.
Some of the new tech features that will be available on the 2017 Elantra are a hands-free Smart Trunk, Dynamic Bending Light and Smart Cruise Control, an 8.0-inch navigation system and the next-generation Blue Link system.
