Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the all-new 2015 C-Class sedan ahead of its world debut next month at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. The 2015 C-Class is now wider and longer than the last C-Class with an exterior that closely mirrors the flagship S-Class sedan.
The 2015 C-Class is no longer the entry-level sedan in the Mercedes lineup, thanks to the introduction of the CLA. That means that Mercedes had to move the new C-Class up a bit, which is why its length has been increased by almost four inches and it is now 1.5-inches wider than before. In terms of styling the new C-Class now looks more modern and upscale than before. If you can’t afford the larger S-Class or E-Class sedans, you won’t be disappointed with the new C-Class, which looks like a baby S-Class. Just as the other Mercedes sedans, buyers can choose two different fascias with the Luxury or Sport packages.
“The new C-Class showcases automotive passion by way of a contemporary design idiom. Progressive and emotional highlights underscore the ground-breaking design style of the new C-Class and demonstrate sensual purity. The new C-Class interprets modern luxury on a new level,” stated Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design Daimler AG.
Mercedes already gave us a preview of the interior of the 2015 C-Class, but just as the exterior looks more upscale, the interior now looks a class above the last one with its higher quality materials and free-standing central display. Thanks to the added exterior dimensions, the interior is now larger than before and there is a significant increase in cargo capacity, which is now at 16.9 cubic feet, up from 12.9 in the previous C-Class.
Buyers can choose new options like a 8.4-inch screen with the COMAND Online system, a heads up display, an air suspension on the front and rear axles and numerous new safety features.
In the U.S. the 2015 C-Class will be offered with two engines a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 235 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque or a 3.0L V6 with 329 horsepower and a 354 lb-ft.
