The 2012 R-Design versions of the Volvo S60 and XC60 are getting a small boost in horsepower and torque. Both the S60 R-Design and XC60 R-Design will be powered by Volvo’s T6 turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. The engine will put out 325 horsepower and 354 lb-ft. of torque compared to the standard T6 engine that only generates 300-hp and 325 lb-ft. of torque.
Volvo has also added a strut tower brace under the hood and shortened the front and rear springs. Spring stiffness is also up 15 percent. Volvo is also including its Corner Traction Control system with torque vectoring. The system essentially brakes the car’s inner driven wheel when cornering and at the same time transmits more power to the outside wheel. The system is supposed to reduce understeer.
The S60 R-Design starts tat $42,275 and the XC60 R-Design starts at $43,150.
