Like the R8 GT, Audi has managed to trim off 188 pounds off its final weight, bringing the final total to just over 3,600 pounds. Much of the weight loss is due to the use of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, which is used for the front spoiler, rear spoiler, rear bumper, and the cover over the soft-top compartment. The seats also saved a lot of weight, with their chassis of glass fiber-reinforced polymer, which saved 69 pounds.
The R8 GT Spyder is powered by a 5.2L V10 that puts out 560 horsepower and 398 lb-ft. of torque. It reaches 0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 197 mph.
Only 333 units are going to be produced. In Germany the R8 GT Spyder will carry a base price of 207,800 euros.
