GM’s CEO Fritz Henderson officially revealed the details surrounding the “230” mystery and to our surprise the marketing campaign was related to the Chevy Volt.
The EPA has developed a new methodology for determining fuel economy numbers for extended-range electric vehicles and under this new method the Volt is expected to have a urban fuel economy rating of 230 mpg. According to GM the Volt consumes 25 kilowatt hours per 100 miles in a city cycle.
Production of the Volt is expected to start at the end of 2010.
