2009 Dodge Challenger Could Start at $23,995…Is It Worth It?

The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 starts at $40K when you factor in the gas guzzling tax. That’s a little too high for most of us, so for the 2009 model year there will be lesser powered Challengers with a much lower price tag.

According to an un-named Chysler exec the 2009 V6 powered Challenger is going to start at $23,995. Chrysler has yet to officially release the pricing for the 2009 Challengers, although it is expected that the base Challenger will start south of $25K. If it does indeed start at $23,995, the Challenger starts at about $4k more than the Challenger’s closest competitor, the Ford Mustang.

Is the Challenger worth the extra $4K over the Mustang? This gap could close when Ford releases the new 2010 Mustang, but not probably by much.
