Volkswagen is previewing its future SUV lineup with the new T-Roc concept at the Geneva Motor Show.
Volkswagen’s current SUV lineup only consists of the Touareg and Tiguan models, but in the past few years VW has continued to give a preview of what’s to come with concept models like the CrossBlue Concept. Now Volkswagen is doing it again with the T-Roc concept that is debuting this week in Geneva.
The Volkswagen T-Roc concept is a based on the same MQB modular transverse matrix platform as the Golf and represents a possible SUV that would be smaller than the current Tiguan. The two-door T-Roc concept features many of the same design cues as the recent CrossBlue Coupe and CrossBlue concepts, but even has a hint of Audi in the details. The all-wheel-drive T-Roc concept also features a roof that features two removable panels that can be stored in the trunk. Front and rear cameras, which are backed up in the dark by LED headlights, extend the driver’s field of vision.
The T-Roc concept is powered by a 182-hp 2.0L TDI turbo-diesel that is mated to a 7-speed DSG and has three driving modes: Street, Off-road and Snow.
Volkswagen hasn’t announced any production plans for the T-Roc concept, but several officials have stated that they would like to see it come to life.
