VW has announced the pricing for the 2013 VW Beetle Fender Edition, which starts at $24,440. The Beetle Fender Edition is unique inside and out. From the outside, the car is distinguished by Deep Black Pearl Metallic paint, brushed chrome mirrors, Fender badging on the sides of the car, 18-inch "Disc" aluminum-alloy wheels, and Bi-Xenon headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights. Inside, the dashboard incorporates the Fender badge and was inspired by the iconic Fender sunburst design. The Turbo models also have sport seats upholstered in V-Tex leatherette with unique cloth inserts.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Convertible in the Works

Mercedes-Benz is reportedly preparing a bunch of new models for the U.S. Between now and 2020, Mercedes-Benz will refresh or replace 19 existing models and release 11 new models in the U.S. according to Steve Cannon, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA. The new models will range from the small CLA all the way up to a stretched version of the next S-Class.

BMW Announces New Plant in Brazil

BMW has announced plans to build a new plant in Brazil, with the goal for production to begin in 2014. BMW will invest more than 200 million euros over the next few years and the plant will have a production capacity of approximately 30,000 vehicles per year. More than 1,000 new jobs will be created at the new production site.

BMW will make available fifty Edition copies of the 2013 BMW X6 xDrive35i, priced at $81,695, and fifty Edition copies of the 2013 BMW X6 xDrive50i priced at $92,895. The BMW 6 Series Coupe Frozen Silver Edition is even more exclusive with a total of 55 copies produced in two trims - the BMW 650i Coupe priced at $99,295 and the BMW 650i xDrive Coupe priced at $102,695.

2013 VW CC R-Line Starts at $32,195

VW has announced the pricing for the 2013 VW CC R-Line which starts at $32,195, which is the sportiest version of the CC. The CC R-Line gets a more aggressive front end that incorporates a large lower air intake and projector-style foglights, side skirts, and R-Line badging. Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth recently confirmed to Automotive News, that the next-generation Land Rover Defender will make a return the U.S. The new Defender could arrive as early as 2015 and was previewed last year with the DC100 concept.

Honda Sells One Million Hybrids

Honda has announced that cumulative worldwide sales of its hybrid vehicles surpassed one million units at of the end of September 2012, 12 years and 11 months after the start of sales of the first generation Honda Insight in Japan in November 1999. Honda began hybrid vehicle sales in U.S. in 1999 with the 2000 Honda Insight, which beat the Toyota Prius to the market. Cumulative sales of Honda hybrid vehicles in the U.S. market have now reached over 318,000 units.

On Friday the space shuttle Endeavour was moved to its new home, the California Science Center. A Toyota Tundra pickup truck without any special modifications successfully towed the 150,000 pound space shuttle Endeavour across a bridge spanning the nation's busiest freeway on Friday night, Oct. 12. The tow was a result of a 20-year partnership between Toyota and the California Science Center to raise awareness of the space program and continue public education through exhibits and events.

Tesla Recieves $10 Million From California to Build the Model X

Tesla has received a $10 million grant from the state of California to build its new Model X crossover. In return for the $10 million grant, Tesla will also contribute $50 million of its own money for the new crossover. The new funding will be used to expand Tesla's plant in Fremont, California and to purchase new equipment to build the Model X.

Chrysler Has Unveiled its Custom Models for SEMA

This year's 2012 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show kicks off in Las Vegas on Oct. 30. Chrysler is bringing 24 custom "Mopar-modified" models to the show. Nissan has just announced the pricing for the all-new 2013 Nissan Pathfinder, which starts at $28,270. The new Pathfinder now rides on a new unibody platform, instead of the previous body-on-frame set up. The 2013 Pathfinder is powered by 260-horsepower 3.5L V6 engine matched with a next-generation Xtronic CVT and buyers can choose between 2WD or 4WD versions. Fuel economy is rated at 26 mpg Highway / 20 mpg City for the 2WD model and 25 mpg Highway / 19 mpg City for the 4WD model.

Acura is going to discontinue the ZDX after the 2013 model year, since the brand plans to "sharpens its focus on new models and core products."

Just in time for the holidays, fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi has unveiled his new six-piece Malibu Collection, which is inspired by the 2013 Chevy Malibu. The collection highlights some of the car's most striking features and colors, including clean lines, crisp shapes, and soft-touch materials and textures. The ice-blue ambient lighting that illuminates the cabin's interior inspired the some of the collection and each item incorporates elements of color.

Honda Gives a $3k Fuel Card to 2012 Civic Natural Gas Buyers

To provide more sales momentum for the 2012 Civic Natural Gas, Honda has announced that it is now giving buyers a debit card pre-loaded with $3,000 that can be used at Clean Energy CNG fueling stations around the country to purchase fuel. At a time when gas prices are hitting record numbers, Honda has pointed out that the Civic Natural Gas Vehicle uses fuel that is currently $2 cheaper than gasoline. The Civic Natural Gas has a fuel cost savings of up to 40 percent compared to a typical gasoline-powered compact car.

2013 VW Jetta Hybrid Sets a Record at Bonneville World Finals

Back in August the 2013 VW Jetta Hybrid became the world's fastest hybrid at Bonneville. On October 5th the Jetta Hybrid LSR returned to the Salt Flats on to break the Southern California Timing Association's (SCTA) H/PS land speed record. The class is for production cars with engines of less than 1.5 liters that use forced induction. Motor Trend Associate RoadTest Editor Carlos Lago averaged 186.313 mph over two runs during the SCTA's World Finals event, eclipsing the previous record by 18.8 mph. In the course of making his second run, Lago averaged 187.147 mph for the last mile, beating the magical 300 km/h mark. This is also the fastest run recorded by a hybrid, beating the 185.394 mph set by the same car back in August.

2013 Cadillac SRX Extends Cadillac's CUE System

The 2013 Cadillac SRX will be offered a new entertainment package featuring a Blu-Ray DVD player that extends Cadillac's CUE system for connectivity to the rear seats along with a redesigned gaming-style remote control that allows each of the 8" flip-up rear screens to play unique media. With CUE, users can pair of up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled devices at once. Also for the first time, rear-seat passengers can connect to and manage their own music players and playlists.

Mercedes-Benz has released a video of the upcoming 2014 SLS AMG Electric Drive, which is a fully electric version of the SLS AMG supercar. This video shows the blue SLS AMG Electric Drive doing laps on the Ascari race track in Malaga, Spain.

To get the highest rating from the IIHS, a vehicle has to get the highest rating in moderate overlap frontal, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations.

2014 Audi A3 Hatchback and Sedan Headed to the US

Audi officially unveiled the all-new Audi A3 five-door hatchback last month at the Paris Motor Show. At the time it was believed that the U.S. would not get the new hatchback and would instead have to make due with only the upcoming A3 sedan. Car and Driver is now reporting that Audi will offer both the five-door hatchback and sedan in the U.S. for the 2014 model year.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 "45th Anniversary" Unveiled

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the SLS AMG GT3 "45 Anniversary" edition, which is an exclusively appointed special series which is aimed at car collectors that love motor racing. The customer sport racing car is being built by hand in a limited edition of no more than five vehicles in Affalterbach. Record DTM champion and AMG brand ambassador Bernd Schneider is involved hands-on in the production process, installing the AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine in the SLS AMG GT3 "45th Anniversary" together with an AMG engine fitter.

Kia is expected to unveil the all-new 2014 Kia Soul early next year at either the Chicago or New York Auto Show. Autocar is reporting that the new Kia Soul will also be offered with an all-electric version, although no official details have been released.

Nissan Plans a New Cheaper 2013 Leaf EV

Nissan hopes to improve the Leaf's sales with a new cheaper version next year. The new entry-level Leaf will be part of the updates for the 2013 Leaf, which is set to also get a facelift. Nissan Leaf sales are down this year with only 5,212 Leafs sold in the U.S. through September, which is down from the 7,199 units sold in the same period last year.

It's been 10 years since the VW Touareg was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and to celebrate the last 10 years VW is releasing the Touareg Edition X. The new Touareg Edition X gets 19-inch 'Moab' alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, silver anodized roof rails, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and darkened rear light clusters in LED technology. In addition, the 'Chrome & Style' designer pack, tinted side and rear windows and 'Touareg X' logos on the wings are also included in the package.

Kia has just released a new batch of photos of the refreshed Kia Sorento, which will show up in the U.S. as a 2014 model. The refreshed Sorento gets new headlights with LED positioning lights, a new tailgate with LED lamps, new bumpers and new 19-inch alloy wheels. On the inside the new Sorento gets a new LCD instrument cluster, new center stack with 7-inch display screen and a new console.

GM Testing New EcoHub App to Track EV Charging Costs

General Motors has announced that it is currently testing a new app called EcoHub that will give Chevy Volt drivers the ability to track how much it costs to charge their battery. The new app will initially be tested with and available to residents of the Pecan Street demonstration project, a smart grid living community in Austin.

2013 Dodge Dart Aero Gets 41 MPG HWY and Starts at $19,925

Chrysler has announced the pricing and details for the most fuel-efficient version of the 2013 Dodge Dart, the Dodge Dart Aero. The 2013 Dodge Dart Aero starts at $19,925 and is powered by a 1.4L MultiAir turbocharged four-cylinder with 160 horsepower and gets 41 mpg on the highway when equipped with a six-speed manual (40 MPG with the Dual Dry Clutch Transmission).

Ford Pits the C-MAX Against the Prius in New Ads (Video)

Ford is drawing on the popularity of a classic 1970s character from a popular Italian animated children's series called "La Linea" to establish the 2013 C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid as better, more fuel-efficient hybrid alternatives to Toyota Prius v through a new advertising campaign. The new ads use the series' familiar style to showcase C-MAX Hybrid's "real-vehicle" performance, taechnology and value to new buyers.

VW May Move Golf Production to Mexico

VW is close to a decision regarding the production of the all-new Golf, which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, last month. VW has built the past Golf models at its German plants in Wolfsburg and Zwickau, but VW may start producing the Golf at its Puebla, Mexico plant according to CEO Martin Winterkorn.

Two years ago Audi unveiled the Quattro concept, which was a coupe that was meant to celebrate the 30 years of Audi's quattro system. Shortly after rumors started to circulate that Audi was going to actually produce the Quattro concept, but now it looks like those plans have been canned. Instead of building the Quattro concept, it's now being reported that Audi may build a coupe-like crossover that would compete with the Range Rover Evoque.

2013 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive Starts at $25,000

Smart has announced that it will bring in its third generation 2013 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive next spring starting at $25,000, making it the most affordable production electric vehicle in the U.S. A cabriolet model will retail at $28,000 when both models hit the U.S. market in the spring of 2013. The 2013 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive is also be eligible for federal tax credits (which run up to $7,500) or state/local tax credits, which will drop the price the final price down to $17,500.

2013 VW Jetta Hybrid Starts at $24,995

VW has announced the pricing for the all-new 2013 VW Jetta Hybrid, which starts at $24,995. The 2013 Jetta Hybrid isexpected to be the most fuel-efficient Jetta in the lineup. Powered by an all-new 1.4-liter turbocharged and direct-injected TSI engine mated to an electric motor, the Jetta Hybrid has a combined output of 170 horsepower and 184 lb-ft. of torque. The hybrid powertrain is also mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

2013 VW Tiguan R-Line Unveiled

VW has unveiled a new R-Line version of the 2013 Tiguan in Europe. The new Tiguan R-Line is based on the SE trim level, and adds bi-xenon headlights, 18-inch 'Mallory' alloy wheels, painted in Sterling Silver with black wheelarch extensions, body-colored unique front and rear 'R' design bumpers and rear spoiler, an R-Line logo on the front grille and aluminium front door sills with R-Line logo. Inside, the theme continues with front sport seats and two-tone upholstery, R-Line logo on the front head restraints, leather multifunction steering wheel with aluminium inlay and R-Line logo and stainless steel pedals.

2013 Range Rover Evoque Pure Starts at $41,995

Land Rover is releasing a new lower priced version of the popular 2013 Range Rover Evoque, the five-door "Pure" model. The new lower-priced Evoque is described as a "more accessible" model that features an aluminum alloy roof in place of the panoramic laminated glass roof standard on other Range Rover Evoque models, and an interior trimmed in leather and Dinamica synthetic suede.

2013 Nissan Quest Starts at $25,590

Nissan has announced the pricing for the 2013 Nissan Quest, which starts at $25,590 for the Quest S. The pricing for the 2013 Nissan Quest are reduced $1,310 on the Quest SV and $980 on the Quest SL model. Enhancements for 2013 include the addition of standard Around View Monitor on LE models, which utilizes four small superwide-angle cameras mounted on the front, side and rear of the vehicle to provide a virtual 360° view of objects around the vehicle. The DVD Entertainment System is now available on SV and SL models.

2013 Land Rover LR4 Gets a Few Updates

Land Rover has unveiled the updates to the 2013 Land Rover LR4 aka Discovery 4. For 2013, the LR4 gets new optional features including the Extended Leather Pack inspired by the HSE Luxury Limited Edition, and distinctive Black Design Packs available with 19" or 20" all-black painted wheels and a host of black trim finishers and design details such as gloss black grille and fender vents. Land Rover has added five new exterior colors and two new interior colors as well.

2015 VW Phaeton to Return to the U.S.

VW is currently working on the next-generation VW Phaeton luxury sedan, which will be reportedly released for the 2015 model year. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Volkswagen's research and development chief also told Inside Line, "The new car will be offered in the U.S."

Ford Announces 2013 Fusion Hybrid Titanium Edition

Ford is introducing a new Titanium version of the 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid, which starts at $32,995. According to Ford, the Titanium edition was developed in response to consumer demand for a higher level of luxury in a hybrid vehicle.

Hyundai and Cosworth have teamed up to create the ultimate Genesis Coupe known as the Cosworth Genesis Racing Series (CGRS). The blue Cosworth CGRS concept will debut at the upcoming 2012 SEMA show.

2014 Chevy Silverado Teased... Again

GM has released another teaser of the next-generation 2014 Chevy Silverado. GM hasn't released any new information about the new truck other than stating that in this photo, "GM engineers are conducting the final validation of the next generation Silverado light-duty pickups. In addition to torture testing, the team is paying attention to delivering a comfortable, well-balanced ride, which is being refined on a variety of track surfaces at GM's Milford Proving Ground. The new Silverado will start production in 2013."

All-New 2013 Nissan Sentra Starts at $15,990

Nissan has announced the pricing for the all-new 2013 Nissan Sentra, which starts at $15,990. The all-new Sentra begins arriving in Nissan showrooms this month and is lighter and more aerodynamic than before. The new Sentra is powered by a new 130-hp more fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, which along with the next generation Xtronic CVT helps deliver a 13 percent improvement in EPA combined fuel economy compared to the outgoing model. Sentra FE+ S and FE+ SV grades achieve 40 mpg on the highway, while the other CVT-equipped models are rated at 39 mpg on the highway.

2013 Jaguar F-Type Starts at $69,000

Jaguar has announced the pricing for the 2013 Jaguar F-Type. If you're hoping to be able to get your hands on Jaguar's newest sports car, you will need to be able to write a check for at least $69,000 for the base F-Type with a 340 horsepower V6. If you want the more powerful F-Type S with its 380 horsepower engine, it will set you back $81,000. The top F-Type V8 S with its 495 horsepower V8 starts at $92,000.

Ford and GM To Collaborate on 8, 9 and 10-Speed Transmissions

Ford and General Motors are expected to announce a new agreement that sees the two automakers collaborating on a range of new transmissions, next month. The new agreement will give Ford and GM the ability to study and share designs on future transmissions, which will save the automakers billions.

The 2013 BMW X1 crossover is finally hitting U.S. showrooms. BMW has just unveiled two special editions of the X1, the Concept K2 Power Ride and the X1 Power Ride Edition. According to BMW the BMW X1 Power Ride Edition will be available in showrooms, especially tailored for those who make the most of winter on the slopes. The BMW Concept K2 Power Ride is a reflection of the adrenaline rush of full-speed downhill fun.

BMW is Bringing Three-Cyl Engines to the US

BMW is reportedly set to offer three-cylinder engines in its U.S. lineup, according to a BMW source that spoke with Automotive News. In the U.S. BMW will soon offer small three-cylinder engines in the MINI lineup and the upcoming BMW i8 plug-in hybrid.
