Next week Volkswagen is going to reveal a more powerful version of the VW Golf GTI, called the Golf GTI TCR at the Wörthersee festival in Austria. The event is perfect for the debut of the near-production-ready Golf GTI TCR, since the event is the world’s largest GTI gathering with 7,300 cars and 125,000 people expected to show up.

The VW Golf GTI TCR is powered by a turbocharged engine with 286 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque that’s mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. VW hasn’t announced how fast the Golf GTI TCR can reach 60 mph, but it does have an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph, which can be increased to 164 mph by removing the limiter.
