China is one of the biggest markets for electrified vehicles, which is why several automakers are doubling down on the number of EV models they offer in the country. Toyota has just announced that it will introduce 10 new electrified vehicles in China by 2020, which is starting with the introduction of the Corolla and Levin plug-in hybrid models in 2019.

The Toyota Corolla and Levin plug-in hybrids will have an electric driving range of at least 31 miles (50 kilometers) when they go on sale in China next year. Production of both models will also begin in China in 2019. Following the release of the Corolla and Levin plug-in hybrids, Toyota will also introduce an electric crossover based on the Toyota C-HR.

To further develop its electrification plans in China, Toyota will also open a new battery testing facility in China, in 2020. Toyota is also working on improving its production in China for future fully electric vehicles.

“We are steadily and confidently advancing all aspects of our environmental strategy in China, the world’s most-advanced country in electrification,” stated Kazuhiro Kobayashi, Toyota Senior Managing Officer and Chief Executive Officer, China Region.
