Toyota has revealed a dramatic new take on the Corolla in the sharply styled Corolla Concept, which it unveiled at the 2025 Japan Mobility show in Tokyo.

The Toyota Corolla Concept debuts with striking proportions, sitting low and featuring a sporty, athletic stance. A low hood is capped off by elaborate front lighting featuring tons of creases and angles, along with a dashed lightbar spanning the front to signal this is no ordinary Corolla.
A sweeping black-painted roofline converges into an extremely high-tech-looking rear-end treatment with more hard edges, creases, and a distinct three-piece lightbar taillight arrangement. No one will mistake this new Corolla for the old one, and that appears to be very much the point.
Inside, the Toyota Corolla Concept is equally a departure from the norm as the exterior. And like the exterior features, the interior features sharp, futuristic styling with a driver-focused layout. The driver faces a newly designed three-spoke steering wheel with an off-center Toyota logo. A digital driver’s display sits behind it, flanked on either side by various important physical buttons for things like lights and windshield wiper controls.

The dash in front of the passenger is blown way forward, giving the front seat passenger a ton of space to stretch out and get comfortable. They also get their own screen for consuming media, finding places in the navigation system, and more.

A central island-like console between the two front seats features a car-shaped illuminated shifter and acts as a place to store and charge your phone while you drive. Soft, subtle ambient lighting can be found running along parts of the doors and dash, giving the sleek interior a bit of needed warmth.
Being a concept, Toyota kept it vague when it comes to what may be powering the Corolla Concept. It did mention that the new platform is extremely flexible, so it’s safe to assume it will likely be available in a variety of powertrain options, including hybrid (this is Toyota after all), plug-in hybrid, and potentially fully electric. Toyota has played a wait-and-see approach with electric vehicle adoption, so it makes sense they would want their new Corolla to keep its options open in that regard.

The Toyota Corolla has been one of the best-selling cars in the world for a very long time, but with the world moving away from traditional sedans, Toyota is looking for a way to keep the Corolla in the minds of buyers. This new Corolla concept signals a fundamental shift in what the Corolla represents, now leaning heavily into design, technology, and overall appeal, rather than just being a reliable appliance car. The safe choice is looking to become the satisfying one as well.

We’d expect the production version of the Corolla Concept to be toned down a bit from what you see here, though it’s clear Toyota is intent on re-thinking and repositioning their tried and true, crowd-pleasing sedan.
There is no word yet on when we might see the production version of this next Corolla, though it’s safe to assume we’ll likely see something in the next year or so as the brand builds anticipation for this very important model.
