What we have here is an all-electric Beetle, dubbed the E-Bugster Concept that is debuting at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The VW E-Bugster Concept starts with the new “more masculine” Beetle but with three-inches chopped off the roof and slightly modified front and rear fascias. The concept also rides on large 20-inch wheels.

Under the hood the E-Bugster is powered by a 114 horsepower electric motor with 199 lb-ft. of torque that gets its power from a 695-pound lithium-ion battery. The concept has a range of 100 miles and can be quick charged up to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

We can expect to see this electric powertrain in the upcoming Golf blue-e-motion.
