It’s been rumored that the next-generation CR-V will be larger than the current model and may even offer a third-row of seats for the first time ever. From this photo we can also see that the next-gen CR-V is going to ditch the vertical taillights that have been part of the CR-V’s rear design since it debuted in the mid 1990-s.

The new CR-V will continue to share its platform with the Civic, but for the first time ever the CR-V may be offered with a plug-in hybrid version. Japanese site Response claims that the powertrain will feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors. The other CR-V powertrains will also include a turbocharged four-cylinder.

The next VR-V will likely debut in the fall of 2017 and arrive as a 2018 model.
