A new report claims that GM and Lyft are going to start testing self-driving versions of the Chevy Bolt EV next year on public roads. GM recently invested $500 million in Lyft and now its reportedly looking to buy Cruise Automation Inc., a self-driving technology startup for $1 billion.
GM hasn’t officially confirmed the report, but did state, “”We believe electrification blends perfectly with autonomy when it comes to technology integration.”

GM is hoping to appeal to Lyft drivers with the Bolt when it goes on sale later this year, which could help boost sales. Lyft eventually wants to replace its drivers with autonomous vehicle, but don’t expect that to happen anytime soon.
