The SQ7 is powered by a 4.0 TDI engine that features a world first – an electric powered compressor. The powertrain develops 435 horsepower and 663.8 lb-ft. of torque. The SQ7 TDI reaches 62 mph in a quick 4.8 seconds before it reaches its electronically-limited 155 mph top speed. Even though the 4.0L has eight-cylinders, Audi says that it’s as fuel efficient as a six-cylinder engine. On the EU cycle it gets up to 31.8 mpg.

Audi chose to implement the electric powered compressor (EPC) to help eliminate turbo drag. The compressor is powered by an electric motor and has a compressor wheel which spins at up to 70,000 rpm. The EPC has a maximum power of 7 kW that gets its power from a 48-volt lithium-ion battery that’s located beneath the trunk.
