This week Audi took the covers off the fully electric Audi R8 e-tron and now the automaker has confirmed plans to add another electric model to its lineup. The new electric model will be a fully electric SUV that will have a driving range of more than 311 miles on one charge.
During the R8 e-tron’s reveal, Audi hinted that another electric model is going to be released. Even though the original announcement lead some to believe that it would be a sedan, an Audi source has clarified that it will in fact be an electric SUV or crossover.

“It will have a big battery capacity and a range of more than 500km (311 miles),” said Audi engineering head Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg. “It will have a specific design, so we won’t take and A6 or a Q5 or whatever and integrate the battery electric drivetrain.”

Even though the new electric SUV won’t be based on a current model, it will share its MLB platform with models, like the A4 and Q7. There is a rumor that it will be called the Q8 e-tron.
