The day is officially here! Tonight Tesla is going to deliver the first 30 Model 3 cars at a launch party tonight. Tesla will be live-streaming the event on its website at at 8:45 PM Pacific / 11:45 PM Eastern. While the first 30 cars are likely going to people that actually work for Tesla, what we’re really hoping for is more details about the Model 3 and Tesla’s launch plan.

Tesla hasn’t released the current reservation totals for the Model 3, but it’s being reported that the number could now be close to 400,000. While Tesla has already started production of the Model 3, production is going to take a while to ramp up. Tesla is only going to produce 100 Model 3 cars in August, which will be followed by approximately 1,500 in September. Tesla hopes to produce 20,000 units in December.

We’ll also hopefully find out more about the Model 3’s pricing tonight. The Model 3 will start at $35k, but does that mean that most buyers will actually be able to get one for that price? Some analysts believe that the average Model 3 will be in the mid-$40k range with the price going into the $60k range for a fully loaded version.
