The large investment in its current plant will be used to expand the factory, add new equipment and revise its workstations. Production of the Ascent will begin in May 2018 and the Lafayette plant will be the sole production site for the large crossover.

Subaru unveiled the 2019 Ascent this week at the LA Auto Show and Subaru expects to sell around 60,000 to 70,000 units a year. Sales could even go as high as 80,000 units if the plant can produce that many Ascent crossovers.
