Nissan is currently working on the next-generation Nissan GT-R, but just like it did with the current generation, Nissan will preview the next GT-R first with a concept version.

The current Nissan GT-R was previewed by two concept versions before it arrived in 2007. Indian Autos Blog recently asked Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Senior VP of Global Design if Nissan has plans to unveil a concept version of the next GT-R, which he replied “Naturally.”

Albaisa also reiterated that the recent GT-R50 is not related to the next-generation GT-R. “Cars like GT-R, Z and Q60, these are icons. These show what you can do. Mech, aero and structurally…The GTR 50 is not the next GTR. Its a celebration about the people behind GTR. They are really not concept cars, they are collector cars.”

The next-generation Nissan GT-R is expected to arrive sometime in the next decade and when it does, Nissan wants it to be the fastest car in its segment. There’s a chance that the next GT-R could get an electrified powertrain to help Nissan meet its performance goals.
