As expected, VW is introducing a new long-wheelbase version of the next-generation 2018 Tiguan crossover. The new long-wheelbase Tiguan offers three rows of seats and up to 57 percent more cargo space than the standard Tiguan.
The new Tiguan is based on Volkswagen’s Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) architecture and compared to the standard Tiguan that is sold in Europe, the long-wheelbase version is 10.7 inches longer with a 4.4-inches longer wheelbase. Thats enough space for up to three rows of seats, which means that the new Tiguan can no hold up to seven passengers. With three rows of seats, that means that the Tiguan will be the second three-row SUV that VW is introducing this year in the US, following the debut of the new Atlas.

VW hasn’t announced if the shorter five-passenger only Tiguan that is sold in other markets around the world will be available in the U.S.
The 2018 Tiguan will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct injection TSI engine, making 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque that is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Optional 4Motion with Active Control all-wheel-drive offers four driver selectable modes.
